2253.9 nm and 11 unique islands......

  .....what a season!!!

2023 was definitely the most exciting sailing season I had so far. In total 16 islands (11 unique islands) were visited. Porto Santo - Madeira - Porto Santo - Santa Maria - Sao Miguel - Terceira - Sao Jorge - Faisal - Santa Maria - Porto Santo - Gran Canaria - Teneriffa - Hierro - Teneriffa - La Gomera - Gran Canaria

After visiting Santa Maria, I was a bit lazy updating and maintaining the blog - sorry for this but there were so many other things to do.....

At least I occasionally posted on Instagram Michael Berger (@islands_hoppers_sailing) • Instagram-Fotos und -Videos

T-Fish is currently in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria and is being prepared for the new season. Work in progress includes:

- complete rigg check and changing the lower fore-shrouds as one cardeel of the port fore-shroud was broken

- new main sail

- new sprayhood

- new toilet pump

- servicing the life-raft

- new autopilot (I repaired the old one but for longer passages it is always good to have redundancy). The new autopilot fully integrates into the network with many advantages as e.g. controlling it from the smartphone/computer, steering the boat maintaining a defined wind-direction, lesser power consumption, etc.

- sealing the hull windows and skylights

- exchanging the AIS transceiver (the one I bought before leaving Sardinia was malfunctioning between Santa Maria and Porto Santo and was replaced under warranty)

- repairing the steering compass (new fluid and membrane)

- changing all saloon and cabin lights to LEDs.

- cleaning the fresh water tank and installing an additional carbon filter

- reassembling the holding tank, changing the valve and assembling it again

- renewing all window and skylight curtains

- renewing the safety lines

- .......

Here a few additional pics from the 2023 season.
