You may know the name Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as the literary father of Herlock Holmes and Dr. Watson but do you know that he also went on a whaler ship as a surgeon from February to August 1880. Notes and sketches he made during his time aboard the whaler Hope have been published now.

I am looking forward diving into a new arctic expedition.....

Driving home for Christmas

.....on my way from Rome to Nuernberg and further to the Kleine Walsertal which is our 'Home for Christmas' for many years now.

.... and my girls are visibly happy to see Dad again.

Marrakech for a change

As everybody else also 'live-aboards' need a change once in a while even when staying most of the time at places where others spend their holidays.

Recently I spend a long weekend with Ivana in Marrakesh over my b-day. We staid in Riad Assakina, a guesthouse which I found on TripAdvisor and which we highly recommend. Friendly and helpful personal, clean, very Moroccan stylish rooms and in walking distance to most attractions.

What an exotic place. We enjoyed strolling through the Medina, the Souk and spend one afternoon in a Hammam. The food is delicious, even in budget restaurants. Have you ever tried Tajine. I love it!

Summer 2016 with new co-skipper!

Our family is enlarging! This year we spend summer on Gianutri, Giglio, Toscany coast, Elba, Giglio, Rome...finally with a co-skipper. Raphael, the boy friend of my daughter Leandra joined us this year. Indeed a natural-talented sailor. This makes the life of the skipper so much easier!
